The Eigenmind is alive and thinking!

"eigenmind".

 
 Thought that word up today while thinking about what we might need in order to get out of the rut we call human nature and culture.
  What do you think an eigenmind might be. If the prefix confuses you, look it up then think about it. 

Aspects of it already exist but they're not yet in direct communication with each other. The stock market, Hollywood, your local Country Womans Association and the innumerable, infinitely networked communities of the WWW. Wherever minds join forces and attempt to impose their will on the world.
 The eigenmind is responsible for the 'personality' that springs forth from groups everywhere, whether they are aware of it or not.
 The eigenmind is now developing a neural network spanning continents and oceans. It is that mind that the foreign visitor catches a distant glimpse of before a new culture becomes familiar.
 Maybe it will not become be an executive type of mind, like ours... but maybe it will... gods forbid. 
 It will have opinions and skills though, and I would be willing to bet it will eventually be consulted as an entity in it's own right. Imagine that! No really, imagine that.
